Fred Parsons was born and raised in London, Ontario, where he studied piano and music theory at the Martin Boundy studios and with the Sisters at Mount St. Joseph. He has been active in the local music scene for nearly three decades, having performed in the top 40′s band the Exception with brother Phil and drummer Gord Dandeno for 13 years, the Georgian Bay Symphony (Trombone, French Horn, Trumpet and Percussion), the Stardust Big Band, The Alpha Jazz Band with Earl Georgas, Frankie D and the Dreamers, Quorom, and with the duo,”Parsons & Brown”, with David Brown on percussion, and more recently with The Noodle Factory, a very unique jazz ensemble featuring some of the areas top jazz musicians. Fred has mentored many Lupercalia musicians as director of the music program at West Hill Secondary School in Owen Sound.
David Brown showed an interest in percussion at an early age. He joined a high school rock & roll band with Mendelson Joe who later became famous with “McKenna Mendleson Mainline”. It was at the age of 18 when David joined “J Smith & the Majestics” that opportunities opened up for him. After spending 4 years with the Majestics, he went on to spend some time with “bobby kris & the imperials” and then “Jon & Lee & the Checkmates”. A full career developed when he joined Tony Kingston. David later travelled with the Diamonds. After a long sabbatical, moving to Owen Sound and an urge to pick up the drums again, he had the opportunity to play with noted local musicians such as Fred Parsons, Peter Rissi, Don Buchanan, Paul Danard, Charlie Bell & Wayne McGrath. David is currently working with the popular duo “Parsons & Brown” and Peter Irwin’s “Jailhouse Rock” (Elvis Extravaganza).
